Weekend Recap: From FanFest Setups to Stag Do Adventures and Stock Challenges

What a weekend it has been! I barely got home until 11:15 PM on Friday after setting up for FanFest at the Metrocentre. Saturday was a different story—I wasn’t at the EVENT because I was off celebrating my stag do in Leeds. Despite the busy schedule, I somehow made it back on Sunday and had another fantastic day. I want to thank Craig, the creator of Project Saviour Comic Universe, for taking charge of US ALL DAY SATURDAY, IN THE BLISTERING HEAT, while I was away, my better half for all the support INCLUDING SUNDAY OPENING, and everyone who stopped by to buy from us. That leads me to the next challenge: our stock automation didn’t work as expected, so now we’re facing a full stock take due to the huge number of items we sold over the weekend. Here’s a detailed look back at the weekend’s highs and lows.

Friday Night Setup at FanFest

Friday night was a marathon. Setting up for FanFest at the Metrocentre took longer than I expected. I didn’t get home until 23:15, which meant a late night and little rest before the weekend kicked off. The setup - ONLY ABLE TO START AFTER 9PM WHEN THE CENTRE CLOSED - involved organiSing tables, arranging merchandise, and making sure everything was ready for the flood of comic fans expected over the weekend.

The energy at FanFest was electric. Fans of all ages showed up, eager to explore new comics, AND collectibles. It’s always rewarding to see the community come together, and the buzz made the long hours worth it.

Saturday Off for a Stag Do in Leeds

Saturday was a break from the usual grind. in Craig’s trusted hands. Craig, who created Project Saviour Comic Universe, is someone I trust completely to handle the shop and customers. He did an amazing job keeping things running smoothly.

My reason for being away was a valid one—I was in Leeds for my stag do. It was a chance to unwind and celebrate with friends before the big day. Although I missed the shop action, I knew it was in good hands, which made it easier to enjoy the day.

Sunday’s Return and Another Great Day

I managed to get back on Sunday - LEFT LEEDS AT 9.45 AND WAS IN THE METROCENTRE BY NOON - and was ready for another busy day. The shop was buzzing with customers, and the sales were fantastic. It was great to reconnect with everyone and hear about their FanFest experiences.

Sunday also brought a surprise: the volume of items sold over the weekend was much higher than expected. This success was exciting but also created a new challenge for us.

Stock Automation Issues and the Full Stock Take

Our stock automation system didn’t work as well as it should have. Because of this, we now have to do a full stock take to make sure everything is accounted for. The massive number of items shifted during the weekend means we need to double-check our inventory manually.

This situation is frustrating but also a learning opportunity. We’ll be reviewing the automation process to prevent this from happening again. For now, the stock take is a priority to keep the shop running smoothly.
